Investment casting of semi-solid 6063 aluminum alloy using the GISS process

Abstract Investment casting has long been known as a process that can produce complex parts with fine details. However, it not used widely for need to be anodized and whose nonuniform color is affected by the type of cast aluminum. Although 6063 aluminum in anodizing decoration purposes, almost entirely wrought. Some studies have aluminum, but no investment reported. The objective this work develop new semi-solid using alloys achieve cosmetic workpiece. To study feasibility gas-induced superheated slurry (GISS) process, effects rheocasting time, mold temperature, vacuum assistance were investigated. results showed samples produced GISS had uniform microstructure less porosity. after coloring also confirmed these processes. From results, summarized feasible application purposes.
